Please read through these instructions. You'll find important information that will maximize your experience here.

1. THE PURPOSE OF THIS WEBSITE

This site was created to connect and re-connect with our Classmates, even those who will not be attending the Cluster Reunion. Then it will become a scrapbook of memories.

Everything you need to know about setting up your personal  Classmate Profile  to gain access to the rest of our site is on this page. If you have questions, please  Contact Us .

2. PRIVACY NOTICE

The host of this website, ClassCreator.com, understands the importance of your privacy. Your personal information will never be sold to other sites. It will not be shared or distributed.

► All of your contact information that you enter into this website (street address, phone number, email address) will be kept confidential and cannot be seen by others, even your felllow Classmates. We collect mailing addresses in the event that we need to contact you by snail mail or phone. Your information will never be given to other Classmates without your permission.

► Your other Profile information, including photos and comments, can be viewed by non-members such as your friends or family, and it will be indexed by search engines. If you want to restrict that, click the icon for Member Functions, then "Edit Profile," "Profile Visibility," and "Block Profile Visibility."

Please note that if you do not want your name and picture on this site, it can be removed. Just  Contact Us . This will end all communications to you from the website, unless you ask that special arrangements be made.

The Class Creator system does not send spam mail of any kind. However, in today's world, so many spam emails are sent daily that many people and/or email service providers have resorted to very high-level spam filtering. This unfortunately means you may never see some messages from this website or messages sent to you from other Classmates. If you have spam blocking or email filtering capabilities, please “whitelist” noreply@classcreator.net (that's a .net, not a .com). In other words, add that address to your email account as an approved Safe Sender.

3. SETTING UP YOUR PROFILE

In order to access the pages that are password-protected on this site, you must set up a Profile by providing your email address and a password.

• If you have several email accounts, and you forget which one you used to set up your account,  Contact Us .

• Passwords do not need to be the high-security style recommended for some sites. Choose something simple, and make a note of it. If you forget it, simply click on "Forgot Password." To avoid entering the password each time you visit, click "Keep Me Logged In."

Once you've logged in, locate the  Classmate Profiles  section and find your name. (Using the  Search  function is easier than scrolling down through the 600+ names on each year's list.)

If your name is not already on the list, but you were part of the Oberlin Classes of 1967, 1968, or 1969,  Contact Us   and your name will be added.

Click on your name and follow the prompts to create your Profile.

Most Profiles already include a Yearbook photo. We encourage you to add a current picture to your profile as a Master photo, which will be displayed in various areas around the site. It's also helpful to upload an additional "Now" photo and a "Then" photo. Classmates will enjoy seeing how you've changed! See Section 4 below.

Member Functions (accessed via the icon in the upper right of your screen):

One important function is Notify Me, whereby you can specify which situations will prompt us to send you an email notification. Other functions allow you to edit other parts of your Profile, post an Announcement, change your password, or log out.

If you change your email address, snail mail address, or phone number, please "Edit Contact Info" so we have up-to-date information. That way you'll always be in the know about what your Classmates are up to!

4. ADDING PICTURES TO YOUR PROFILE

Adding current pictures is not a requirement to participate on the site, but it certainly is a nice way to get to know people again. We've had reports of Classmates who were routinely running into each other without realizing it, because ... well ... we've all changed a little over the years! wink

Please note that pictures are limited to 685 pixels wide in most cases.  You can upload a larger photo with more resolution, but it will be compressed to that width before being displayed.

Begin by clicking the icon for Member Functions and then clicking "Edit Profile."

Filling in the photo slots at the top of your Profile:

  • Roll your cursor over the Master, Then, or Now photo silhouette. (Note: you can't upload a Yearbook photo if one has already been provided.)
  • Click "Select Photo" displayed in the upper right corner of the photo, then click the "Upload a New Photo" button.
  • Select (or double-click) the desired photo from your computer's hard drive. You will then be given an opportunity to crop the photo for a perfect fit.

Adding large "Profile Gallery Images" to your Profile:

  • Click the photo tab in the upper right corner of your Profile.
  • You will see any images previously uploaded here. Click the "Upload a New Photo" button to add more.
  • Click to select images you wish to display on your Profile. All images with a green check mark will display. Click again to not display, and the green check mark will disappear.
  • To add a caption under your images, roll over any image and select "Edit Details". Enter your caption and press save.
  • You can adjust the display order of your photos by simply dragging and dropping them into the positions of your choosing.

5. COMMUNICATING WITH CLASSMATES

At the top of the  What's New  section is a place where you can Post a Comment to everyone who has joined this website.

Maybe you want to communicate with one particular member, "Jordan Smith."  Go to Jordan's  Classmate Profile  and click on "Send Jordan a private message" (under the photo on the upper left). When you've sent it, Jordan will receive it via email from Class Creator. This feature allows open communication between Classmates while protecting your personal information. If you do wish to share your email address or phone number or other personal information within a message written on our site, we won't block you.

Many Classmates have not yet joined this website, so you won't be able to email them from here. However, the symbol after a person's name indicates that they did join a similar site for their 50th reunion. See  '68 and '69 Websites  to learn how to access those earlier profiles and comments.

If you receive an email notification that someone has posted a new message, and you click on that notification but the new message isn't there, perhaps the reason is that you aren't officially Signed In. Privacy restrictions require you to  Sign In  to see the latest. The rectangular blue button to do so is on the upper right of the  Home Page , or below that page's Announcements if you're using a smartphone.

  • Do you want to contact an alumnus who hasn't joined any of our websites, or who may not even be a member of the Classes of 1967-69?  Click here for some helpful suggestions, such as requesting assistance from the college's Office of Alumni Engagement.
