Members of the Oberlin classes of 1967, 1968, and 1969 returned to campus for a 55-year Cluster Reunion during Homecoming Weekend, September 29 through October 1, 2023.
On Saturday afternoon, most of the attendees from our Cluster — 68 all told — gathered in front of Finney Chapel for our respective class pictures. Half were from the Class of '68 (top), plus 19 from the Class of '67 (lower left) and 15 from the Class of '69 (lower right). Click the photos to order prints.
Due to Wilder Hall renovations, student-operated radio station WOBC had moved from the rooms on the third floor that it called home for six decades. It was now in a smaller location on the fourth floor, visited during the reunion by former station directors Ted Gest ’68 and Tom Thomas ’69. The students in charge, shown on the right above, were music director Imogen Pranger, operations manager Taso Mullen, and station manager Jackson Bartlett.
College photographers posted another 100 photos of the weekend, a few of which are shown below. For the complete album, click here. And if you have any pictures to add, let us know.
The Oberlin Orchestra performed Ravel and Tchaikovsky on Friday night.
The next morning in a Science Center classroom, Lee Drickamer ’67 and Aaron Levin ’68 led a workshop on memoirs and reflections.
A Homecoming Tailgate at noon Saturday was followed by a football game against DePauw University.
Go, Yeo! Fight fiercely, ye “O” men! The Oberlin Yeomen have adopted a mascot named Yeobie, inspired by an albino squirrel living on Tappan Square.
At the the Half-Century Club Dinner on Saturday evening, President Carmen Twillie Ambar introduced Walt Galloway ’69. Ralph Shapira '68 and Chris Smith '68 filled their plates.
And afterwards there was the traditional Illumination and social on Tappan Square.
