James Harris Guard ’67 died from complications of Parkinson’s disease on November 30, 2023, in St. George, Utah, where his adopted twin sons had once attended college.
At Oberlin, he majored in history and played baseball. After graduation he joined the Air Force for three years. He then earned a degree in accounting at Colorado State University and worked for firms such as Texaco, retiring in 1997. Afterwards he taught college math, served as president of Habitat for Humanity of Southwest Utah, and worked as an election judge and election judge trainer.
