Susie Ostroff (Bartow) and Mary Ellen "Munch" Munsche (Stanton) and I remained in close contact with Jane for many years following our Oberlin years. We shared notes and memories and wanted to pay tribute to Jane on this reunion occasion.
At Oberlin we were either in the same dorms or shared many evenings playing bridge after dinner. Jane was always a source of good stories, anecdotes or little tid-bits of historical events that she relayed with humor and lots of laughs. She loved history and English literature and read avidly. One of her passions at Oberlin was the Gilbert and Sullivan productions. She continued following and supporting these summer after summer in Cape Cod, long after after our Oberlin graduation. Follwoing Oberlin she was an assistant buyer at Bloomingdales in NYC where she and I shared an apartment for a few years. She then moved to Philadelphia and became a paralegal, specializing in retirement benefits, for a large legal firm. She married Don Llewelyn who was a tax professor at Villanova Law School. They moved to Avalon, N.J. when they both retired. We, together with Rob Bartow, had a mini reunion with them in Avalon one week-end in the mid-2000s.
Sadly Jane died in February 2021, following a bone fracture, a hospitalization and subsequent COVID-19.
Jane was my first dance date at Oberlin - a fun start to college. While we did not date further, we did share conversations about college life and our progress. Saddened to learn of her passingn. An energetic and fun loving lady! Lee
