Portia “Polly” Adams Brown ’67 passed away on September 8, 2023. Having earned a bachelor's degree in German from Oberlin in 1967, she obtained a master’s degree in linguistics at Michigan State University in 1969. Polly settled with her new husband and their two children in San Diego, where she continued to pursue languages (she spoke five), music, and her global vision. She worked as a teacher of English as a Second Language and directed an international student exchange program. She loved classical music, singing hymns, studying the Bible, watching Jeopardy, playing games with her family, and traveling.
