Toss in a Positive

Nearly all of the responses so far have been negative, or grudgingly positive.  This seems largely due to the change in time and the fact that we will be housed off campus.  The latter also suggests some other challenges for mobility and for getting together informally.

I still hope to attend the reunion because what I value most--seeing my friends from long ago whose friendships endure and seeing other Oble's I may not have known but wish I had because they are Obies--can still be achieved in the new model.

I think the provision for gathering at Wilder into the late hours is workable and is amenable to the kind of  closeness on campus that we have enjoyed in dorms over the years.

I also think that the advantage of having the reunion while students are present in large numbers is a major benefit over years when we could only see those who were staying for graduation and/or working commencement and had limited itme.

The Alumni Engagement Office, especially JIll Robinson and Terry Kurtz, are listening closely to alumni who pose "what if" and "what about" questions.  I would encourage people to trust that and to lean into the reasons why we have come to reunions in the past.  I think they are still paramount in making a decison to come.  Coming will give you a fresh perspective on how the College and Conservatory is managing in the post-pandemic, post Gibson's lawsuit eras and open our eyes and ears to the spirited debate we relish.
