Professors from our era at Kendal

Heads up math and science major cluster mates. We lost a well-loved giant in Norm Craig two years ago. This June I had an opportunity to spend two days at Kendal where I had a delightful visit over dinner with math prof George Andrews and his wife. George is slipping into dementia, but his smile still beams, especially when he recalls the days when we were in his classroom. I also visited briefly with Sam Goldberg, another math prof, who had lost his wife some years back and wasn’t doing well. Sam died two months later at 98, ready to depart this world. Chem prof Terry Carleton and Bio prof David Benzing are also living at Kendal, but I was unable to connect with them.  Oberlin was our first stop on a 2-wk. self-supported tandem bike ride around Lake Erie clockwise from Cleveland, taking the Sandusky ferry to Leamington, Ontario, then heading east to Buffalo. Pictures are  of George and me at dinner and Francie and me with our loaded  tandem bike and two cyclist escorts as we prepared to depart Kendal.
